PNA is an England Netball affiliated league, which means that only teams and players who are affiliated to England Netball can participate in the league. Additionally, each player must also complete a PNA registration form prior to their first game. If either of these 2 conditions is not met, then your team will be fielding an illegal player and will incur a penalty.

Please note that PNA teams can officially only use netball coaches and umpires that have affiliated to England Netball. If you use coaches and umpires that are not affiliated your insurance is invalidated. If you have any queries on registration you should email registration@portsmouthnetball.org.uk

Affiliation Guidance 10-11 |
ALL players must be affiliated with England Netball (EN) BEFORE they can register to play in the PNA league. The affiliation year runs from 1 Sep to 31 Aug. EN does not give a reduction of the affiliation fee for part year memberships. The minimum affiliation fee for an adult team is £307, which covers up to 10 players; additional players must pay £30.70 each unless the player is under 18 in which case the fee is £19.30 The easiest and quickest way to affiliate a player is via the EN website - Click on the link to access the EN website for further information:-(http://www.englandnetball.co.uk.)

After affiliating a new player, and before the player's first game, you must provide the player's name, member ID and the date that the affiliation fee was paid to Sheila Davies (the PNA Affiliation Rep). If you do not have access to the England Netball website you should telephone the EN Affiliation Department to affiliate your new player. Only in exceptional circumstances should a cheque (made payable to England Netball with the player’s name and team name and EN ID number written on the back) be sent to Sheila who will forward the cheque on your behalf to EN. The cheque must be received prior to the player playing their first game as their insurance cover is only valid when payment has cleared. Once a player has been affiliated, EN will issue their membership card with the next scheduled issue of the EN bi-monthly magazine.

If you wish to register a player who is affiliated through another team (known as a 2nd claim player) you MUST provide proof of the player’s affiliation details in the form of a photocopy of their current membership card. Hampshire Netball Association (HNA) does not charge a fee for a 2nd claim player providing the player is already affiliated through a HNA team (as detailed on the player's affiliation card). If the player is affiliated through a different county e.g. West Sussex, HNA will require an additional fee of £6.00 per player. Additionally, if a team comprises completely of 2nd claim players (even if they are already affiliated through a HNA team) then HNA require a minimum fee of £60 (for 10 players plus £6.00 per additional player), which must be paid prior to the team participating in the PNA league.

Players that have affiliated through Group Membership schemes are not entitled to 1st claim affiliation when playing for a netball club. These participants MUST affiliate 1st claim with their PNA netball club. Examples of Group Membership teams include Junior League teams, College or University teams, Youth or Junior teams and Armed Services Netball Association teams. Players from these groups will be classed as unregistered players unless they have affiliated as a 1st claim player to a non Group Membership team.

Registration Guidance |
To register a player, a PNA registration form (Aug 10) must be fully completed. Fully completed includes detailing the player’s EN affiliation details – both club ID, if 2nd claim, and Member ID. If the form is completed on the night of the player’s first game, then the form must be signed, BEFORE the start of the game, by either the umpire or a committee member. You can post registration forms direct to the Registration Secretary (Claire Owen) providing the form is received prior to the player’s first game. In this instance the form does not need to be signed by an umpire or committee member. Completion of a PNA registration form WITHOUT the player being EN affiliated for this year results in the player NOT being eligible to play in the PNA league.

Unregistered Player Penalty |
The penalty for not conforming to these and the Constitution affiliation and Registration rules is, for the first 3 occurrences, a 5 points deduction and a £10 fine. After the 3rd occurrence of non conformance the matter will be referred to the committee for discussion. Please refer to the current PNA constitution for further details.
